Missions Win, 6-2, Over South Pasadena

The Montgomery Missions stifled the South Pasadena Air Riders, 6-2, at Air Riders Ballpark. Preston Hoffman, who is tied for 2nd in the SL2 in home runs with 22, had his hitting cap on. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Montgomery. Dave Crumpacker earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. His record is now 2-4. Sherman Ayala earned the save for Montgomery, his 6th of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Montgomery, had it not been for Don Hutchison, the 20-year old right fielder . Hutchison contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Montgomery up, 3-2.
"I thought we played a nice game," Hoffman told the Montgomery Daily News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The win puts the Missions at 43-36, while the Air Riders drop to 37-42.
