The Sikeston Shamrocks grabbed a win, 12-1, over the Mt. Vernon Cyclones at Shamrocks Park. Sikeston shortstop Toby Schmitt went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. Mike Reich, who is tied for 4th in the SL2 in wins with 8, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. The Shamrocks improved their record to 54-23 by beating Mt. Vernon.
Adam Larson, who is tied for 9th in the SL2 in total bases with 151, helped out the Sikeston cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the left fielder was 1-5 with a walk.
Mt. Vernon manager Dan McClure said: "We'll rinse this one off and get ready for the next game."
