The Newport News Wranglers defeated the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 10-6. Center Fielder Vinny Torres deserved a large share of the credit. Torres went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times for the Wranglers. Newport News pitcher Kyoshi Kano got the win. He's now 2-0. Nick Compean was tagged with the loss. After today's action, Newport News sits at 39-35, while Mt. Vernon falls to 38-36.

Brian Collins aided the Newport News cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate.
