Wranglers Mow Down Cyclones, 9-4
Mt. Vernon catcher Nate Johnson was sensational. He was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Newport News beat the Cyclones, 9-4. Newport News pitcher Sergio Romero earned the win, hiking his record to 2-4. Mike Crain suffered the loss. The third-place Wranglers improved to 38-35.

In the bottom of the third inning, designated hitter Jose Ramos had a 3-run home run for Newport News. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Wranglers on top, 5-2.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Ramos.
