Big Day for Murillo as Wranglers Down Cyclones, 12-4
The Newport News Wranglers marched over the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 12-4, at Wranglers Stadium. Vinny Murillo, who is tied for 8th in the SL2 in triples with 3, led the charge. He went 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Ivan Gonzalez, who threw 85 pitches over 7 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 10 hits. The last-place Wranglers bumped their record to 37-35.

With the game tied, 4-4, in the bottom of the fifth, Murillo had a key at-bat for Newport News. With the bases loaded, Murillo hit a run-scoring single off Adam Noland, making the score 5-4, Wranglers.
