The Wichita Panthers did just enough to sneak past the Anaheim Music, 6-5, at Panthers Park. Wichita pitcher Edward Southey, in particular, had a standout performance. Southey picked up the win for Wichita, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 9-6. Danny Espinoza closed it out for his 13th save.

Tied up with the Music in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Panthers got a boost from third baseman Jamie Zapata. With the bases loaded, Zapata saw a 1-1 fastball from Josh Van Nice and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Wichita on top, 2-1.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Wichita manager Ross Meister.

The victory gives Wichita a record of 53-41.
