Wranglers Win at Sikeston, 6-4
The Newport News Wranglers topped the Sikeston Shamrocks, 6-4, in Sub League 2 action at Shamrocks Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Newport News pitcher Jon Clark. Clark got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. The save went to Steve Gallagher, number 3 for him.

Newport News relied on the hitting of Justin Shaffer to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Wranglers on top, 2-0. For the game, Shaffer had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

In comments to the Newport News Times, Clark admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."

By defeating Sikeston, the last-place Wranglers improved to 36-35.
