Mikel Launches 2 Dingers, But Santa Barbara Wins
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Daniel Mikel, the Ontario Sunrays lost to the Santa Barbara Super Troopers, 6-5. Mikel was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Santa Barbara reliever Isaiah Timmons picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Raul Rodriguez was saddled with the loss. The first-place Super Troopers, at 60-32, lead the Sub League 2 Central Division by 8 games.

Santa Barbara used the timely hitting of Matt Shea to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Super Troopers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Shea. "It sure beats the alternative."
