Shamrocks Handle Mt. Vernon, Snag 6-2 Win
|
Sikeston registered a win at Mt. Vernon Grounds by beating the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 6-2. Pitcher Jesus Beltre was one reason why the Shamrocks triumphed. Daniel Hernandez earned the save, his 24th. Sikeston is 55-37 and Mt. Vernon, with the loss, 49-43.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jonathan Cabouerde? The Sikeston catcher had a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Shamrocks on top, 4-0. For the game, Cabouerde had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said Sikeston manager William Antczak. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
