Montgomery beat Mt. Vernon at Missions Grove, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman C.J. Bush. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. Montgomery reliever Lee Davidson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tyler Bourassa was saddled with the loss. Sherman Ayala recorded his 1st save for Montgomery.

Had Bush not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Bush hit a run-scoring single. The Missions took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Bush.

The third-place Missions hiked their record to 34-32.
