Cyclones Upend Super Troopers, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Mt. Vernon Cyclones and the Santa Barbara Super Troopers, pitcher Brian Pace was the difference between victory and defeat. The Mt. Vernon left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Cyclones win. The save went to Jeff Reade, his 5th this season. Mt. Vernon is now 48-39, while Santa Barbara is 68-19.
Mt. Vernon used the timely hitting of Eddie Bertetto to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cyclones on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Brian works, he fights, and he keeps a good attitude," said Cyclones manager Tom Whiting.
