Montgomery right fielder Don Hutchison had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Newport News at Wranglers Stadium. Hutchison was 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. Steve Gallagher nailed down his 2nd save. The last-place Wranglers improved to 31-33.

Brian Collins helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 1-0, Wranglers.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Montgomery manager Hoa Nguyen-Dinh. "The effort was great."
