The Newport News Wranglers topped the Montgomery Missions, 4-2, in Sub League 2 action at Wranglers Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Newport News catcher Chris Larsen. Alex Gonzales got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Newport News is now 30-33.
With Newport News leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Larsen came up to bat against Montgomery pitcher Josh Fields. Larsen hit a fastball to right for a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season put the Wranglers on top, 3-0.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Larsen.
