Carson City Sent Home with 2-0 Loss
|
Carson City wasted a solid 6-inning effort from starting pitcher Carlos Abreu, losing to Ontario, 2-0, at Sunrays Field. The win was credited to 22-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Amos in relief. His record improves to 5-6. Carlos Abreu took the loss. The Sunrays, at 31-55, sit in last place in the Sub League 2 Central Division.
The Miners had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Sunrays going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old left fielder David Hoffa came to the plate. Hoffa hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch sinker from Carson City hurler Carlos Abreu. It was Hoffa's 3rd home run of the year.
"Watch and learn," said Hoffa. "This is what good pitching looks like."
