Cyclones Stumble, Lose 7-4 to Fighting Knights
|
The 7-4 Niskayuna win over Mt. Vernon was due largely to Mike Farrell. The Fighting Knights catcher went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. By defeating Mt. Vernon, the 4th-place Fighting Knights improved to 39-46.
Farrell had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 fastball from Steve Cripple, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Fighting Knights a 6-4 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Farrell.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Farrell told the Niskayuna Observer.
