The Montgomery Missions got a good effort from starter Brian Millet in defeating the Mt. Vernon Cyclones at Mt. Vernon Grounds. The final score was 4-2. The winning pitcher was Millet, now 8-4. He tossed 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 2. Jeff O'Donovan earned his 5th save, after closing out the game.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Javy Perez? The Montgomery designated hitter had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Missions on top, 3-1. For the game, Perez had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Brian did a nice job," said Missions manager Hoa Nguyen-Dinh.
The first-place Missions hiked their record to 53-30.
