Fighting Knights Edge Shamrocks, 4-3

The Niskayuna Fighting Knights picked up a win at Fighting Knights Field, downing the Sikeston Shamrocks, 4-3. On the mound for Niskayuna was right-hander Matt Bradford, who played a pivotal role in the win. Bradford, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Today's win puts Niskayuna at 33-45, while Sikeston falls to 36-42.
The Fighting Knights got an important contribution from catcher Nick Watkins, who in the bottom of the third hit a changeup to left for a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Fighting Knights ahead, 3-0.
"It's not about individual awards," Watkins told a Niskayuna Chronicle reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
