Wranglers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Panthers
A good performance from designated hitter Dave Horn helped the Newport News Wranglers defeat the Wichita Panthers, 8-6. Horn was 4-5 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 for the Wranglers. Newport News reliever Chris Jones picked up the win. Edwin Lozano took the loss for Wichita. The second-place Wranglers now sit at 47-30.

Newport News used the timely hitting of Nick Bannister to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 15th inning to put the Wranglers on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Bannister.
