Newport News Upended by Anaheim, 4-3
|
The Newport News Wranglers got a superb performance from pitcher Jean Lebreton, but the Anaheim Music still won the game, 4-3. Lebreton threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The win was credited to 21-year old left-handed pitcher Edwin Martinez in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Steve Gallagher took the loss. Earning his 1st save for Anaheim was Shane Leimer.
Had Butch Dull not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Dull hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Music.
"This was a good win," said Dull.
The win puts Anaheim at 31-45.
