Young, Alpines Too Much for Super Troopers
The Savannah Alpines beat the Santa Barbara Super Troopers, 15-4, at Alpines Stadium. Jim Young, in particular, was impressive. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Savannah reliever Victor Sanchez, now 1-2. The loser was Oscar Villasenor. With the win, Savannah goes to 26-27, while the Super Troopers fall to 38-15.

The Alpines got an important contribution from center fielder Victor Ontiveros, who in the bottom of the third knocked a first pitch slider to left-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Alpines ahead, 6-2.

"It's good to win," Ontiveros told the Savannah Observer. "I like to have fun doing it."
