Wranglers Get Clutch Win Versus Santa Barbara
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Newport News Wranglers got the win.

In a low-scoring tilt between the Newport News Wranglers and the Santa Barbara Super Troopers, Jean Lebreton, who is tied for 5th in the SL2 in wins with 6, was the difference-maker. The Newport News right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winner in relief was Dan Johnson. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings.

Newport News used a timely hit from 22-year old second baseman Anthony Rollins to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wranglers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was huge.

"Jean's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Newport News manager Adam Tate.

The win puts the Wranglers at 45-29, while the Super Troopers drop to 46-28.
