The exploits of third baseman Leo Carballo, who is rated as the 44th best prospect by BNN, helped the Mt. Vernon Cyclones defeat the Savannah Alpines, 5-2. Carballo went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Mt. Vernon reliever Sueo Nakashima was the winner. His record is now 4-2. Justin Spain took the loss. Mt. Vernon is now 41-33, while Savannah is 28-46.

Joe Collins helped out the Mt. Vernon cause in the top of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 3 with a walk.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Carballo told the Mt. Vernon Daily.
