Green Knights Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
In a tight contest between the Spring Park Green Knights and the Newport News Wranglers, Ryan Ballard was the determining factor. The Spring Park right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. Ballard yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 6, and struck out 0. His record improves to 1-0. The Green Knights now have a record of 29-41 with the win over Newport News.
Tied up with the Wranglers in the top of the fifth inning, the Green Knights got a boost from right fielder Mitch Eoff. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Eoff saw a full count cutter from Yee Wang and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Spring Park on top, 2-1.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Eoff told the Spring Park Herald.
