Carson City Upended by Savannah, 5-3
|
The Savannah Alpines racked up a win at Alpines Stadium, bumping off the Carson City Miners, 5-3. Harley Jacobsen, who started for Savannah, pitched effectively for his team. Savannah reliever Jeff Eddins got the win, raising his record to 3-3. Edgardo Saenz was tagged with the loss. Victor Sanchez earned save number 1 this season.
Savannah went in front, 5-3, on Victor Ontiveros's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Ontiveros hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Carson City pitcher Angelo Luque visibly perturbed.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Ontiveros.
Savannah occupies 4th place in the Sub League 2 East Division at 30-39.
