Victory Over Alpines Takes Montgomery to 46-20
|
Montgomery left-hander Willie Gonzales pitched his team to victory over the Savannah Alpines at Alpines Stadium. The final score was 3-1. Montgomery reliever Willie Gonzales, who is tied for 7th in the SL2 with a 3.79 ERA, was credited with the win. His record goes to 9-1. Jonathan Chavez took the loss for Savannah. Jeff O'Donovan earned the save for Montgomery, his 2nd of the year.
Montgomery used the hitting of Javy Perez to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Missions on top, 2-0. For the game, Perez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I still think this team can play even better," Gonzales told the Montgomery Times.
The Missions lead the Sub League 2 East Division by 11 games.
