The Carson City Miners polished off the Newport News Wranglers by the score of 7-4. The largest share of the credit belonged to first baseman Dillon O'Neill. O'Neill went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Miners. Bill Guerrero, the winning pitcher, is now 6-2. The Miners got a big boost from shortstop Jeff Hammons who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Wranglers hurler Andres Madera. It was his 34th walk of the season and put Carson City on top, 1-0.
