Duval goes 3-for-5 to Ignite Shamrocks Offense
In a high-scoring game between Sikeston and Newport News, shortstop Matt Duval was a difference-maker. The 21-year-old helped Sikeston grab the 15-8 win. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Sikeston reliever Bobby Simpson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jim Unknown absorbed the loss. Now 27-41, Newport News has dropped 12 straight.

Tim Brooks broke a 8-8 tie in the bottom of the eighth with a run-scoring walk. It put the Shamrocks in front, 9-8. For the game, Brooks was 1-4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"When you're losing, the game looks more difficult to play than it is," said Newport News manager Chris Rice.
