The Santa Barbara Super Troopers topped the Carson City Miners, 7-5, at Miners Ballpark. Santa Barbara first baseman Eric Propper was a spark plug for the offense. He went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Jae-weong Hyun. He's now 9-2. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Super Troopers. The Super Troopers, at 55-12, have a comfortable 17-game lead in their division.
Santa Barbara used the timely hitting of Reed Gomez to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Super Troopers on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Gomez. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
