Despite a fine performance by shortstop Paul Adam, the Montgomery Missions lost to the Wichita Panthers, 7-5. Adam went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. The third-place Panthers hiked their record to 22-21.

Wichita went up, 7-5, on Mike Williams's 3rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Williams hit in the bottom of the seventh, made Montgomery pitcher Dave Crumpacker grimace.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Williams told the Wichita Daily.
