The Mt. Vernon Cyclones cruised to a win over the Newport News Wranglers, 14-4, at Wranglers Stadium. Jason King, who is tied for 8th in the SL2 with a .363 batting average, led the way, going 4-for-5 for Mt. Vernon. The 5th-place Wranglers have dropped 8 straight games.

Tim Schnupp cracked a home run off Alex Gonzales in the top of the second. His 2-run blast put the Cyclones on top, 2-0. In all, Schnupp had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
