Wahlert Hits 2 home runs in Wranglers Win
|
The Newport News Wranglers topped the Niskayuna Fighting Knights by a score of 4-1. Leading the way was designated hitter Jarrod Wahlert. Wahlert was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Wranglers. With the win, the Wranglers improved to 35-23.
Newport News grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Wahlert hit a 2-run home run off Joe Giunta. His 9th home run of the season put the Wranglers out in front, 2-1.
Wahlert called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
