Joe Collins had a hand in Mt. Vernon defeating Sikeston by the score of 7-4. Collins went 4 for 4 at the plate, scoring 1 times and driving in 3 runs. Sueo Nakashima picked up the win in relief. Mt. Vernon used the timely hitting of Nate Johnson to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cyclones on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"No complaints from me," said Cyclones manager Tom Whiting. "I like what I saw out there."
