Marquez Helps Fighting Knights Beat Shamrocks, 8-3
The Niskayuna Fighting Knights topped the Sikeston Shamrocks, 8-3, with youngster Alex Marquez playing a key role. Marquez went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 5 for the Fighting Knights in the win. Ayres Palhao got the win, improving to 1-3. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Niskayuna is now 23-32, while Sikeston is 31-24.

With Niskayuna leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Marquez batted against Sikeston pitcher Steve Pitt. Marquez hit a cutter to center for a bases-clearing double. His 15th double of the season put the Fighting Knights on top, 6-2.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Marquez told the Niskayuna Observer. "Whatever it takes."
