Panthers Lose By a Run at Montgomery
Despite a great performance by Wichita shortstop Jimmy Johnson, the Montgomery Missions defeated the Panthers by the score of 8-7 at Missions Grove. Johnson went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jeff O'Donovan was credited with the save for Montgomery, his 10th of the season. Montgomery is now 22-34, Wichita 31-25.

In the bottom of the seventh, Tom Palmer put Montgomery in front with a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single, making the score 7-6, Missions.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Palmer, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
