Shamrocks Fight for 7-6 Win
Though he had a stellar game, Tommy Johnson could not prevent his team, the Wichita Panthers, from losing, 7-6, to the Sikeston Shamrocks. Johnson was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Macho Martinez. He is now 4-1. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The Shamrocks raised their record to 24-28.

Sikeston took advantage of an error in the top of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 6-6, when Marcos Cortez hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Shamrocks in front, 7-6.

"No time for posing," said Cortez. "The next game will be here before you know it."
