The Montgomery Missions did just enough to sneak past the Sikeston Shamrocks, 4-3, at Shamrocks Park. Montgomery pitcher Willie Gonzales, in particular, had a standout performance. Montgomery, at 33-18, is 5½ games up in the Sub League 2 East Division.

Montgomery used the timely hitting of Jim Hamilton to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Missions on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Gonzales.
