Shamrocks Send Ontario Home with 5-3 Loss
The Sikeston Shamrocks stopped the Ontario Sunrays, 5-3, at Sunrays Field. The Shamrocks got a big game from Bill Cortez, who went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Zach Kyte picked up the save, his 3rd. Sikeston, at 22-28, occupies 4th place in the Sub League 2 Central Division.

Cortez had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-0 changeup from Edgar de la Mora, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Shamrocks a 5-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Cortez.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Cortez, "one at-bat at a time."
