Panthers Handle Mt. Vernon, Snag 6-1 Win
The Wichita Panthers stymied the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 6-1, at Panthers Park. Jesse Chapman had a good day at the plate. He was 1-2 with a double and 2 walks for Wichita. The winner in relief was Brian Wilson. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. The win gives Wichita a season record of 24-19.

Bobby Spross had a big 2-run double for the Panthers in the bottom of the second inning. With Wichita leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a knuckle curve from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Tyler Bourassa and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Panthers ahead, 4-0.

"I loved our energy," said Wichita manager Ross Meister. "I loved the way we played."
