Getting a good performance from third baseman Davey Stoltzfoos, the Newport News Wranglers defeated the Sikeston Shamrocks, 8-2. Stoltzfoos went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Wranglers. The winning pitcher was Jean Lebreton. He's now 4-1. Tied up with the Shamrocks in the top of the fourth inning, the Wranglers got a boost from second baseman Jeremy Dodge. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Dodge saw a first pitch fastball from Israel Parez and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Newport News on top, 4-2.
