Cyclones Dismiss Wranglers, 4-2
The Mt. Vernon Cyclones picked up a win at Wranglers Stadium, downing the Newport News Wranglers, 4-2. On the mound for Mt. Vernon was left-hander Jon Maddock, who played a pivotal role in the win. Mike Driskell closed the game out for Mt. Vernon, earning his 1st save. The win puts Mt. Vernon at 4-3.

Mt. Vernon used the clutch hitting of Mario Tristan to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cyclones ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

Newport News manager Chris Rice said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
