Brown Lifts Wranglers to 9-6 Win
The Newport News Wranglers defeated the Niskayuna Fighting Knights, 9-6, at Wranglers Stadium. Leading the charge for Newport News was right fielder Matthew Brown. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Newport News reliever Kyoshi Kano was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Alfredo Sanchez. Jonathan Aubry earned the save for Newport News, his 5th.

In the bottom of the eighth, Brown put his team in front with his 1st home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which came against Alfredo Sanchez, made it 9-6, Newport News.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Brown told the Newport News News.

The Fighting Knights, at 4-20, have stumbled out of the gate.
