Despite the rain, the fans at Little Rock Grounds enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Little Rock Golden Gophers got a good effort from starter Andy Yule in defeating the Newport Unicorns at Little Rock Grounds. The final score was 4-2. Gregg Daugherty was called on to finish, recording his 28th save.
The Golden Gophers got a big at-bat from right fielder Paul DeVaul. For the game, DeVaul was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Little Rock a 2-0 lead.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said DeVaul.
Little Rock has an impressive 109-29 record.
