Shamrocks Deal Missions 5-3 Defeat
|
The Sikeston Shamrocks handed the Montgomery Missions a 5-3 defeat at Missions Grove. Center Fielder Jayden Howard starred for Sikeston. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Daniel Hernandez recorded the save for Sikeston, his 5th of the season. Montgomery is 8-10 after the loss.
Tim Brooks dealt the Missions a blow in the top of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Sikeston leading 2-1, Brooks hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
In postgame comments to the Sikeston Bulletin, Howard said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
