The Montgomery Missions banked on Josh Howard and he turned in a masterful performance. The left-hander kept the Santa Barbara hitters in check. The final score was 2-1, Missions. In 8 innings, Howard surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Santa Barbara, with the loss, is still a hardy 8-2.
Montgomery used the timely hitting of Mark Mauro to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Missions on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
