Spring Park Sent Home with 3-2 Loss
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Montgomery Missions and the Spring Park Green Knights, pitcher Willie Gonzales was the difference between victory and defeat. The Montgomery left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Missions win. The winning pitcher was Gonzales, now 2-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Javier Perez earned the save for Montgomery.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Missions had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Chris Hipkins hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Carlos Ochoa and made the score 3-0, Missions. Hipkins went 2-3 with 2 singles.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Hipkins.
The loss drops Spring Park to 2-7.
