Golden Gophers Earn 9-3 Win Versus Providence
|
Little Rock second baseman Kevin Shimizu was instrumental in helping the Golden Gophers triumph, 9-3, over the Providence Hex. Shimizu was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Travis Cheeseman sewed up the save, his 1st. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for Little Rock.
With Little Rock leading 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Shimizu came up to bat against Providence pitcher Davis Novoa. Shimizu hit a slider to left for a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Golden Gophers on top, 5-0.
Said Providence manager Dave Hale: "They did a lot of things right. We did a lot of things wrong."
