Loss to Golden Gophers Extends Greensboro Losing Streak
|
The Little Rock Golden Gophers beat the Greensboro Naturals, 8-2, at Little Rock Grounds. Little Rock center fielder Jason Perrigin had an outstanding performance. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Dave Anderson. He tossed 79 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The last-place Naturals have lost 7 straight games.
The Golden Gophers got an important contribution from left fielder Nick Cordova, who in the bottom of the second hit a fastball to left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Golden Gophers ahead, 3-0.
