Mighty Mites Tack 6-4 Loss on Aurora
|
Aurora got a terrific game from first baseman Tim Massey. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to St. Joseph, 6-4. Massey went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Jim Unknown got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 8 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Timothy Lipinski recorded the save for St. Joseph, his 13th of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for St. Joseph, had it not been for Ivan Lopez, the 23-year old second baseman . Lopez contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put St. Joseph up, 5-3.
Lopez said his team "played with a purpose."
The Mighty Mites sport a record of 43-91.
