Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Providence Hex and Newport Unicorns.

The Providence Hex knocked off the Newport Unicorns, 5-3, in Sub League 1 action at Ballpark of Providence. Providence pitcher and Cedar Bluff, Alabama, native Jim Miller had an outstanding performance. Angel Garabito collected save number 2.

The Hex got an important contribution from third baseman Shinichi Ota, who in the bottom of the second knocked a 1-0 curveball to center for a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Hex ahead, 4-1.

"Losing feels worse," said Newport manager Victor Sepulveda, "than winning feels good."

Providence is now 75-58, while Newport is 60-73.
