Providence Gets 2-0 Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Providence Hex and the Waco Warlocks, 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ricardo Sanchez was the difference-maker. The Providence right-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. The winning pitcher was Sanchez, now 4-5. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. With the win over Waco, the Hex improved to 72-57.
Shinichi Ota had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Providence. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Providence in front, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Providence manager Dave Hale said.
