Streaking Golden Gophers Win Another One, 4-2
|
The Little Rock Golden Gophers picked up a win at Little Rock Grounds, knocking off the Medford Desperados, 4-2. Starting pitcher Wilfredo Vergara was a big reason why. Vergara got the win, improving to 4-1. He gave up 2 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Gregg Daugherty recorded the save for Little Rock, his 23rd of the season.
In the bottom of the 5th, Little Rock took the lead on a 3-run home run by Justin Dawson. At the time, the Golden Gophers were trailing 2-0, but Dawson's hit with two outs against Medford pitcher Isaiah Starks put them in front, 3-2.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Dawson told the Little Rock Bulletin.
The winning continues for Little Rock, with the latest triumph making it 8 straight.
