Loss Tarnishes Fine Performance by Poff
Another game, another loss for the struggling Greensboro Naturals.

The Little Rock Golden Gophers weathered a fine game by Greensboro center fielder Latrell Poff to upend the Naturals, 10-7, at Naturals Grounds. Poff was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Little Rock pitcher Ronnie Downard got the win. He's now 5-1. Edwin Rael was tagged with the loss. Vince Isabella recorded the save, his 15th.

Little Rock relied on the hitting of Joe Bacon to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Golden Gophers on top, 7-5. For the game, Bacon had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"When you're losing, the game looks more difficult to play than it is," said Greensboro manager Nick Kendrick.

The slumping Naturals have dropped 8 in a row.
