Desperados Sneak Past Unicorns, 4-3
|
The Medford Desperados beat the Newport Unicorns, 4-3, in 13 innings. Medford pitcher and Brookfield, Illinois, native Graham Renner led the way. Juan Mejia came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Medford is now 73-28, 21½ games up in the Sub League 1 East Division.
The Desperados got a clutch hit from catcher Jimmy Brewer. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Desperados.
Brewer called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
